If you followed America’s Got Talent this season, then the name Kodi Lee should be quite familiar to you. Even if you didn’t watch the show you’ve probably heard about him by now.
Kodi is 23 years old, legally blind, autistic, and a powerhouse singer/ entertainer. With the support of his loving family, mom Tina, dad Eric, along with siblings Derek, and Kayla, Kodi not only auditioned for America’s Got Talent, but received the Golden Buzzer from judge Gabrielle Union , which propelled him straight to the live shows in Hollywood. Each performance , from that first audition to his performance in the finals was better than the last, and I cried like a baby, overcome with emotion each time he sang.
Being legally blind and having autism are major challenges but Kodi never let it stop him. He had a dream and was intent on making that dream come true. In the process, he broke down barriers , and showed us that nothing is impossible. With the love and support of his family, Kodi’s dream of being on America’s Got Talent was realized. When he was announced as the winner , I jumped up and down, screaming with joy, then I cried. Kodi captured my heart in a way no other entertainer ever has.
Thank you Kodi for sharing your amazing talents with us and showing us that dreams can come true. The world is a much better place because of you. You may have won America’s Got Talent, but you weren’t the only winner that night. The world won too.
