When I woke up this morning, my first thought was,” What am I going to write about on my blog today?” I have the day off and and figured I would come up with something eventually. But at first, it sure didn’t seem likely. I kept rolling ideas around in my head, but nothing jumped out at me. Should I write about Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religion (which is why I have the day off in the first place)? Should I write about this, should I write about that? What should I write about?
Suddenly an idea formed in my head. Why don’t I write about trying to find something to blog about? It’s not always easy deciding what to write about. Waiting for inspiration can be frustrating. Sometimes it strikes right away, and other times it takes its sweet time in coming to you. Lucky for me, I didn’t have to wait too long for a visit from the inspiration fairy this time.
Once inspired, I am off and running. The dam has broken and words spill forth, flooding the page ( or computer screen,as it may be). I write until the flood becomes a trickle, and finally comes to an end. The dam is then rebuilt until the next time inspiration hits.
Writing is my passion, it’s part of who I am. And if that means putting up with the inspiration fairy and all her quirks, then so be it. After all, waiting for inspiration is part of being a writer.
