Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Jewtiful

I have a question. It’s rhetorical. You don’t have to answer , just think about it. If you saw me on the street, would you instantly hate me because I have curly hair? Because I am short? Because I have an overbite? Most likely, you wouldn’t even notice me. BUT, if you saw me on the street wearing my Star of David, would you instantly hate me simply because I’m Jewish? Many people would.

While Jews are not the only population hated just for existing, there have been more and more attacks recently on Jewish communities, synagogues, Jewish authors , etc. Lately it seems like it has been declared open season on Jews and nothing’s being done to stop it.

In fact, due to the current political climate, it as if permission has been given to hate all Jews and all things Jewish. And that’s a big part of the problem. Haters, bigots and narrow-minded people are being enabled by people in power. Including those running our country.

So what can we as Jews do about it? We can speak out. We can educate others. We can keep living our lives . We can show the haters that no matter what, we will remain standing tall and strong.

You want to hate me because of my politics? Go ahead. You want to hate me because I’m short? Knock yourself out. Just don’t hate me because I’m Jewtiful.
