Lessons Learned In The Drive-Thru

After dropping my husband off at work this morning, I decided to go to the drive-thru at McDonald’s for a Sausage Egg McMuffin. The woman in car in front of me was taking a while to give her order, and I was getting annoyed. I admit to giving a slight beep of my horn to remind her that other people were waiting to give their orders. I finally got my turn to order and when I went to pay, the girl at the window handed me a receipt, and told me that the woman in the car in front of me had paid for my food.

I was floored. I also immediately felt bad for beeping my horn at her. I hadn’t been very nice, but this perfect stranger had the grace to overlook my impatience and do something nice for me. This just goes to show that there is still good in this crazy, topsy-turvy world. There is light in the darkness that sometimes seems to be taking over and we must help to keep it shining bright.

I, for one, will try to be more patient, because patience truly is a virtue. I learned a very important lesson today, and I learned it in the drive-thru.
