One Not So Big Beautiful Bill

Well, with no surprise to anyone, the ” One Big Beautiful Bill”  has been signed into law.  All that’s left is for the president to sign it into law.

By passing this Bill, healthcare is being taken away from those who need it most. The elderly, sick, poor, and disabled, rely on Medicaid,  along with social security, and disability payments  to help get the care they need.

My Mom is 85 years old and has advanced dementia. Last year, my sister and I made the difficult decision to move her into a nursing home where she can receive the care she needs which we can’t provide. Medicaid is part of what pays for her stay at the facility. With the passing of this bill, we worry about what will happen to her and the millions of other people like her.

Will she be able to stay where she is? What happens if she is not? The passing of this bill raises these these questions and more. Right now, like my sister and I, a lot of people are asking these same questions.

The only people benefitting from this are those who are wealthy. This just extends the tax cuts already given to them by the president,  And what do the rest of us get? We get, worry , stress, and fear of what will happen to our loved ones.

The people who passed the bill only care about one thing. Themselves. As long as their pockets keep being lined, they could care less about anyone else, whether they be sick, elderly or poor.

Tomorrow  is the 4th of July . But from where I’m standing right now, there is not much reason for anyone to celebrate. Except for the cretins who passed the bill. They’ve already started celebrating.

All this makes me think of Robin Hood. But, instead of stealing from the rich to give to the poor, they’re stealing from the poor to give to the rich. And the rich don’t even need it.

As I sit here, on the eve of America’s birthday and write this, I can not believe what our nation has become.  Somehow, I don’t think this is the kind of country our founding fathers had in mind.

So now , it’s time to pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off, and deal with the fallout that we’re sure to encounter now that the One Not So Beautiful Big Bill is a law. God help us all.
