Over two hundred years ago, we fought hard for our independence and won. Now, one person and his minions want to take it away from us.

We shunned authoritarianism then, and we shun it still. But the person who said he would be a dictator starting on his first day in office now has much higher aspirations.  He wants to be King.

We are a Democracy, not an authoritarian state or a dictatorship, and we can not let it become either one. The highest office in our nation is that of the president, not king. That’s the way it has always been. That’s the way it will stay.

We need to stand together and use our voices against those who want to take away our rights and turn our nation into a dystopian society, like in the novel The Handmaid’s Tale. Marget Atwood was way ahead of her time when she wrote it in 1986. I recently read it, and there were definitely tones of things that are happening now. It’s scary to think about it.

The time to act is now. We need to do whatever we can to save our Democracy.  Whether it be writing to our Congresspeople or Senators, posting on social media , writing newspaper and magazine articles,or joining in a peaceful protest, do it! Use whatever platform you can and speak out. Make your voice heard.

To keep this the ” Land Of The Free, ” we need to be brave. This is not only our country, this is our home, and here in America, we crown no kings.
