Embracing Life With Hearing Loss

A little over three months ago, not long after I turned 59, I started wearing hearing aids. Although I knew my hearing wasn’t great, I still thought it would be a while before I needed them. As it turns out, I was wrong, and couldn’t be happier about it.
Before getting my hearing aids, I felt like the world was shutting me out. I had a hard time hearing and participating in conversations. I would just sit, smile, and nod my head, occasionally turning to my husband to have him tell me what was being said. The same thing for watching t.v.
Once I began wearing my hearing aids, it felt like I had rejoined the world. I was hearing sounds that I hadn’t even realized I had been missing. Simple sounds like the blinker in the car when making a turn , and the rain hitting the window.
When it came to my hearing, I had a choice to make, and I chose to embrace life with hearing loss.
