Yes, there is trouble in Traverse City Michigan. It comes in the form of Christine Geiger, the owner of Studio 8 Hair Lab. Her Facebook post about not serving the LGBTQIA+ community has gone viral all over the internet.

While Mrs. Geiger has the right to her opinion, and as the owner of a business she can choose who she welcomes into said business, her opinion and her choice are dangerous.

Mrs. Geiger claims to welcome the LGB part of that community but not the rest of it . She further claims that the TQIA+ part of that community are groomers and pedophiles. By doing so, she is showing that she too is a groomer. She is grooming others in the fine art of hate.

After reading some of the comments on her Facebook posts, it is clear to see that far too many people agree with her. That is a recipe for disaster.

Saying she welcomes only part of the LGBTQIA+ community is most likely her way of trying to save face. Sorry, but either you welcome a whole community of people or you don’t welcome anyone in that community. You don’t get to pick and choose .

Whether she realizes it or not, Mrs. Geiger is not only grooming others in her community to hate, she is grooming her own children to grow up to hate others because of who they are.

The fact that she apparently hates the LGNTQIA+ community makes me wonder what other communities she hates. Does she hate the Jewish community, of which I am a part? Does she hate those in the BIPOC community? From what I’ve seen, those who hate one group of people usually hate others as well.

As long as there are people like Christine Geiger and her followers around , there will always be trouble in Traverse City and everywhere else.
